In 1932, George Preston in Boston, Massachusetts founded the Redskins franchise and back then, they were the Boston Braves. A year later, the Braves moved to Fenway Park and changed the name to Redskins. Failing to get the fans’ attention even with a championship in the Eastern Division in 1936, the Redskins was moved to Washington, D.C. from then on, the Redskins made it to seven consecutive winning records and a trip to three National Football League championship games.
Former Los Angeles Rams head coach George Allen took over the Redskins in 1971 and spectacularly reshaped the team. In 1991, head coach Joe Gibbs assembled the most tenacious offensive unit. Quarterback Marl Rypien who led the NFC in yardage, Ernest Byner at running back and wide receivers Art Monk and Gary Clark both topped 1,000-yard mark for the season. The Redskins defeated the Buffalo Bills 37-24 in Super Bowl XXVI after the season.
The Washington Redskins finished third on their division with a record of 9-7. With Jason Campbell, the Redskin hired head coach Jim Zorn to bring the West coast offense that Campbell used to play back in college. Campbell is hoping to stabilize after playing for four years in the league. The Washington Redskins is looking forward on improving their 2007 record; they will play with their regular NFC east rivals as well as the AFC North and NFC West due to schedule rotation.
